Marathon Des Sables 2014 finisher, Lucja Leonard from Edinburg Scotland has been running for six years. Her great passions are travel and running, with a soft spot for multi-stage ultras. Lucja and her husband Dion Leonard recently traveled to South Africa to compete in “SA’s Big Daddy”, the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon  – a 250km self-sufficient footrace through the Kalahari Desert. Runners don’t be an easy target!

Ultra runners are known to run at odd hours of the morning and night to get the required “minimum” mileage logged. I signed up for a 300km non-stop footrace through the desert. Training for this event will no doubt require long hours (and thousands of kilometers) on the road or trails and many would be done solo. Q&A with Thabang Madiba ( Retto 2014 and World Champs )

Two days after I finished the Magaliesberg Challenge I received an email that read: Dear Prospective Monties Runner, If you are receiving this email it means you are next on the waiting list for The Mont-Aux-Sources Challenge that will be held on the 6th of September 2014 and I have a substitution entry available for you.
